Position Title:
Communications Intern

Organization:
The Indian Summer Festival is a multi-arts festival for global souls. Every July, for 10 days,
Indian Summer hosts dozens of free and ticketed events throughout Downtown Vancouver,
featuring music, dance, literature, cuisine, visual arts, film and more! ISAS is a charitable,
not-for-profit, arts organization with a vision for an inclusive, diverse, and culturally-rich
society. To achieve this, we commission and present significant local, national, and
international programming that reflects Vancouver’s position as a harbour for diverse arts,
ideas, cultures and traditions. Now in its 5th year, Indian Summer has distinguished itself as a
rare and necessary arts festival where worlds meet. The Indian Summer Festival runs July 7 –
16, 2016
Description:
• Plan and write content for website and blog.
• Plan, write and distribute monthly e-newsletter.
• Develop innovative engagement strategies for social media and manage multiple
social media channels, including social media conversation monitoring and reporting.
• Assist publicists with festival content creation, such as sourcing and editing artist bios,
and compiling artist videos and photographs.
• Write punchy, eye-catching copy for marketing and advertising materials.
• Write feature pieces for online news and lifestyle media.
Qualifications:
• Experience using Hootsuite to schedule, post and monitor social media conversations.
• Experience using Facebook Pages, Twitter, Instagram and emerging social media
platforms.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with an attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
• High school graduation and minimum one year of post-secondary education, including
courses in communication, marketing, creative writing, journalism, and/or public
relations.
• Must be enrolled in a degree or diploma program, preferably related to
communications, marketing, public relations, creative writing, journalism or publishing.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekend during the 2016 festival.
