CAED offers timely assistance to producers and entrepreneurs by providing: • Agribusiness marketing services • Agricultural and demographic data • Economic feasibility assessments • Economic impact analysis • Policy analysis on agricultural issues • Resources and publications The Center for Agribusiness ABOUT THE CENTER As a center of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, we combine the missions of research and Extension in order to serve producers, agribusinesses and communities. CAED draws on the knowledge and experience of college faculty in Athens, Tifton and Griffin. We also collaborate with Georgia Cooperative Extension agents in county offices across the state as well as other local, state and federal agencies. OUR SERVICES Market research We conduct market assessments and other short­ term studies for new, expanding or emerging food and fiber businesses. We offer timely assistance to producers and entrepreneurs by providing research to help them in implementing their ideas. The center also provides feasibility analysis, promotion evaluations, needs assessments, consumer surveys and taste tests. Impact analysis We serve Georgia's communities by examining the economic potential of proposed projects or events. Impact analysis provides a means to estimate the effects of economic activity such as the number of jobs created or lost, average employee compensation, industry output or generated tax revenues in the local, regional or state economy. Economic Development Data and information We collect and distribute agricultural, natural resource and demographic data for private and public decision makers. Our reports include the Georgia County Guide, Georgia Farm Gate Value Report, Ag Snapshots, Georgia Ag Forecast and Community Profiles. Policy analysis We provide key decision makers with research on emerging issues relevant to the well-being of Georgia's economy. By providing objective data through investigative research, policy makers have easy access to valuable information. Educational workshops We educate aspiring entrepreneurs on how to be successful through our annual Starting a New Food Business workshop.
