Agri News, MN 07-24-07 Statewide Iowa news and notes Dairy facility on schedule for October AMES, Iowa -- The Dairy/Animal Science Education and Discovery Facility is on schedule for completion with staff and cows set to occupy it in October. The facility is a complex of buildings that make up a modern dairy operation. The free-stall, dry cow and heifer buildings, designed for cows preparing to calve and young cows, are complete except for equipment installation, said Mark Huss, facilities and planning project manager. The milking center, which will house offices, classrooom, a public viewing area and milking parlor; are about 30 percent complete. The project is projected to cost $14.7 million. Viticulture field days scheduled by ISU AMES, Iowa -- A series of four viticulture field days at Iowa State University research farms will provide grape growers with production information. Field days are scheduled July 28 in the Horticulture Research Station near Ames, Aug. 2 at the Armstrong Research and Demonstration Farm near Lewis, Aug. 10 at the Southeast Research and Demonstration Farm near Crawfordsville, and Aug. 11 at the Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm near Nashua.
