Des Moines Register 07-12-07 ISU police looking for armed robber By LISA ROSSI REGISTER STAFF WRITER Ames _ Iowa State University police are looking for a man they said held a handgun Wednesday and took a man’s money on campus. Police responded to a 911 call at 10:12 p.m. regarding the incident that occurred near the area of Wallace Hall along Welch Road. A man, who was not harmed, told police the alleged robbery happened after he had met with a man near Wallace Hall to discuss buying a car. He said that man, accompanied by another man, drove up in a maroon or burgundy Buick Riviera, and took out a gun while discussing the purchase and took the man’s money. Police said the suspect left the area in a second car (a blue Ford Focus) driven by a white female. Both cars then left the area, with the Ford turning east onto Mortensen Road. Police said the suspect was described as a black male wearing a white shortsleeved jersey shirt with a red number “99”, blue jeans, work shoes and safety glasses. ISU police urge anyone with information about the suspects to call 515-2944428.
