E-mail alert: Laundry's done
Students who live in the University of Iowa residence halls can now request
automated e-mail alerts when their clothes have completed washing and drying
cycles.
Dorm dwellers at the U of I, Iowa State University and the University of
Northern Iowa now can swipe their ID cards to have laundry charges added to
their university bills.
The U of I also has a new Web-based service called LaundryView that allows
students to look online to see if there are washers available. U of I officials
installed the LaundryView software last fall. The annual software fee is $13,000,
paid for in part by raising costs of doing a wash by about 50 cents per load.
