Gary Munkvold will serve a three-year term, and will lead a research, outreach and teaching program in seed health in the plant pathology department and at the Seed Science Center. Manjit Misra, director of the Seed Science Center, said Munkvold has "an outstanding record in seed pathology in both the public and private sectors." "His groundbreaking research answered many long-standing questions critical to seed-borne disease in field crops," he said. "He is ideally suited to lead the center's seed health program." Munkvold, who was a plant pathology faculty member at ISU from 1993 through 2002, researched diseases in agronomic crops.
