El fin de semana pasado fuiste a la boda de tu primo/a. Describe lo que pasó. ¿Dónde tuvo lugar? ¿Compraste ropa especial? ¿Qué comiste?

Is tourism good for Spain? We have visited several regions and found that popular places suffer as well as benefit from tourists.
Many businesses only exist to serve visitors – restaurants, souvenir shops and hotels, for example. These industries are very important as often there are few other opportunities and people have to leave to find work. One young woman from Marbella said “I enjoy meeting foreigners and would like to live here, but there are no jobs, so I had to go to Madrid.”
Tourists cause problems too. One hotel owner spoke of the drunken youths who broke windows and made a lot of noise. A lady who was born on the Costa Brava angrily reported that “they have closed some Spanish shops and opened German ones. They have ruined my village.”
However, as a waiter from Torremolinos said “If the tourists didn’t come, we wouldn’t eat.”
So Spain will continue to welcome millions of visitors who enjoy the sunny weather, the excellent food and wine, and, we hope, spend lots of money.
