Four Weddings and Funeral: perspectives on LEED Jodi Smits Anderson Abstract: Shakespeare is credited with the idea that comedy (a joyful endeavor) has to include four weddings and a funeral. It is only through experiencing negative emotion that our joy in living is comparatively appreciated and achieved. Green Buildings are much the same - it is only through conflict resolution that the value of the LEED process can truly shine. It is only through comprehension of different perspectives that we can more clearly see from our own point of view. We will discuss several perspectives on the LEED rating systems, developed by the USGBC. How and why has the USGBC entered into this market and toward what goal? How does the government view LEED systems and the cost of a rating review? What do Owners expect and get out of the process? Why is there back and forth discussion on the value of LEED, the cost of LEED and if it should be used or not? Learn about these perspectives from Jodi's personal experience in her career as an Architect, as a Director in a government authority in NYS, as an Owner's rep and as an active participant in the USGBC at the national and local levels. What are her and your conclusions? What is your perspective on our joyful endeavor?
