The student profiled is most likely to be female (59%), white (65%), traditional age (58%), and enrolled in an average load of 9 credit hours per term. Most students are planning to transfer (65%), 15.5% are vocational and 19.5% are undeclared. 82% of MCC students are in-district living in one of 12 high school taxing areas (see list below). The schools within or very close to Kansas City have shown a drop in population. These include Center, Hickman Mills, Kansas City and Raytown. Others close to the city showed a small growth including Belton, Grandview, Fort Osage and North Kansas City. The lowest rate was Platte County with 6.2%. Jackson County has the highest number of college students with 34,768 and Ray had the lowest with 554. Platte County has the highest educational attainment with 91.8% of its population having earned a high school diploma. It also has the highest percentage of its population with a bachelor’s degree 33.3%. Ray County has the lowest educational attainment with only 79.3% of its population with an earned high school diploma and 10.8% with a bachelor’s degree. Jackson has the lowest percentage of its population that speaks English at home with 92.4%.
