Choose ONE of the following topics:
1. Trace the development of at least one of the novel's characters throughout the course of
the narrative.
2. In literary works, imagery can be used to express an idea, clarify connotative meaning,
or enlarge literal meaning. Focusing on one pattern of imagery from the text, analyze how
the narrator develops character or theme. Do not merely summarize the plot.
3. To what extent is your novel about the "flawed nature of humanity"? You may
consider developing criteria for a civilized society as part of your preparation.
4. Discuss the importance of storytelling in your novel.
