ENG 2D1 READER RESPONSE Instructions: Write a response, between 250 and 300 words in length, in which you reflect on various aspects of your novel. Note that a response is less formal than a literary essay or quotation analysis, but you need to incorporate proper sentence and paragraph structure. Clear topic sentences are essential, but it is not necessary to include an introduction or a conclusion. Mentioning significant questions or passages from the novel can help you maintain focus. Here are some questions that you may consider while generating your response: • Did you have a strong emotional reaction to any part of the text? Does this reaction tell you anything about yourself and/or your society? • Could you identify with any specific characters? Did you like or dislike any of them? • Through reflecting on your novel, are you reminded of anything that you have observed in the actual world or have come across in other books or film? • Did you have any expectations of the novel before reading it? • Upon completing the novel, did you feel challenged in any way? Discuss one or two of the above questions in detail, and you will have a quality response. Assessment: N.B.: This response will be assessed as part of the application category (10 marks).
