Energie AG Oberösterreich optimizes
organization with power plant
management system
SPPA-M3000 Plant Management
optimizes organization with a cost-cutting plant
management system across several locations.
The Company
In recent years, Energie AG Oberösterreich has
developed from a regional utility company into an
internationally active corporation. This has
necessitated a company reorganization.
Today Energie AG Kraftwerke GmbH operates two
coal, one gas and 34 hydroelectric power plants,
in addition to one of the largest biomass plants in
Austria. The plants are spread throughout the
entire federal state and currently generate approx.
2,500 GWh of electricity per year.
Siemens is supplying the core of a new 400 MW
CCPP plant.

Machtrenk hydroelectric power plant: one of 34 hydroelectric
power plants where more efficient plant management and
maintenance are supported by SPPA-M3000.
The Task
Competition is forcing the company to achieve
constant or increasing plant availability and even
more economic operation with a small number of
staff. The planning and performance of
maintenance measures, in addition to good
documentation, constitute an essential cost
factor. The system should be tailored to suit the
special requirements of power generation while
allowing it to be used at all locations.
„Plant Management has proven to be most
successful. Without the plant management
system, efficient work processes would be
almost unthinkable in view of our
decentralized structures.“
Walter Steiniger, Project Manager
Our Solution
Energie AG Oberösterreich has been working with
the SPPA-M3000 Plant Management System,
which was specially developed for power plants,
for almost 10 years.
The system provides information about the key
data of all plants at all locations. Special events,
such as scheduled and current maintenance
measures, are processed employing a workflow.
SPPA-M3000, combined with SAP and document
management, has become an indispensable tool
for day-to-day work.
