The DO/MBA Program
How to Apply
The DO/MBA program is a cooperative venture
between the DeBusk College of Osteopathic
Medicine and the School of Business at
Lincoln Memorial University. The co-terminal
dual degree MBA program allows the highly
motivated and academically qualified medical
student to pursue the DO and MBA degrees
simultaneously. Both programs can be completed
in four academic years, in less time than would
ordinarily be required if the degrees were pursued
consecutively.
Applicants must already be accepted to LMUDCOM and either be set to begin their first year
of medical studies or have just completed their
first year of medical studies.
The program is designed
to provide students with a
thorough understanding of
business principles that are
useful to a physician who
participates in the business
aspects of medical practice,
regardless of the setting. The
program blends medical and
business training to provide a
basis for the ability to capably
manage and coordinate
medical practices and other
business endeavors in a
highly competitive, heavily
regulated and constantly
changing environment.
Thirty-six semester hours of coursework/credit
are required to complete the dual degree MBA
program; six semester hours of dual credit is
accepted from the DO degree curriculum that
applies to MBA requirements.
The program is an accelerated, rigorous academic
undertaking. Prospective students should plan their
schedules accordingly and prepare for a significant
allocation of time to the program. Coursework will
emphasize the use of case studies and will involve
quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Applicants who have not yet begun their
medical studies must have cumulative and
science GPAs of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
Applicants who have successfully completed
their first year of medical studies must be in
good academic standing and must have a GPA
of at least 3.00 with no grade below a C.
