CHAPTER 90 – RECORDS AND REPORTS
91 – APPRAISAL REPORT
The volume to be incorporated within the appraisal initially comes from the timber sale cruise
output. Scaling and woods defect consisting of seen defect, unseen defect and breakage will
normally be incorporated within the cruise, so no further adjustment for defect would be
necessary. The cruise data is transferred directly into Timber Information Manager (TIM),
except in extenuating circumstances. If additional adjusment to volume is necessary, these
adjustments can also be made through TIM.
Use of TIM may create a few CCF difference from the cruise results because TIM rounds unit
volumes before aggregating unit volumes for the total. Since this rounded volume is one in the
same as the timber sale contract volume, we actually contract for the aggregated rounded unit
volume total (TIM contract volume) rather than the cruise output volume. Therefore, the
Appraisal Report should reflect the transition from the cruise volume and the TIM contract
volume. Any contract unit volume displays also need to reflect TIM volumes.
Exhibit 1 provides a sample worksheet for calculations of A(T)2 appraised volumes for the
Appraisal Report. Exhibit 2 provides an example of a completed worksheet.
