CHAPTER 20 – DEFECT DEDUCTION METHODS
21 General
Make all defect deductions by reducing the diameter or the
length of a log. Often it is good practice to check deductions
by one method with deductions by another for the same defect.
This assists in applying the most suitable defect deduction
method. Length deductions for defect may be made in
multiples of one foot, when necessary, to obtain better
accuracy.
No formula, method, or rule will take the place of judgment in
scaling.
