This policy is provided to ensure adequate and safe parking for the public as well as employees. The following parking assignments and guidelines are provided; however additional markings, signage and painting may be required or updated to completely facilitate this parking process. There are nine general categories of parking associated with the SO as noted below and shown on the enclosed parking plan: 1. Short Term Visitor Parking - (30 minutes or less, public and/or government) - Located on the north side of the office and to the west of the front entry way running to the picnic table. Approximately 10 spaces. It should be noted that there is also short term pickup and delivery parking along the street on the south side of the SO. 2. Long Term Visitor Parking - (up to all day, public and/or government visitors) - Located to the east of the building’s main entrance. (No overnight parking except during winter months when overnight parking will be allowed to accommodate efficient and safe vehicle warm-ups.) 3. RV Parking - (public RV’s or government rig w/trailer for 60 minutes or less) - Located on the north end of the two double rows west of the SO. 4. Employee Personal Vehicles - (POV=privately owned vehicles) - Approximately 95 spaces to the west of the building and parking along the Highway 12. 5. Handicapped - (public, employee POV, and/or government) - Short or long term parking for general use by anyone requiring handicapped accessible parking. (These designated spaces may move but will remain well marked.) 6. SO Pool Vehicles - (status 5) - All government SO pool vehicles and the Forest Supervisor will park on the last row to the west of the SO plus 7 spaces against the back fence. There are approximately 23 spaces available. Note that the west row of this double row is for M&M parking, our parking is the east row of the west double row. 7. SO Individually Assigned Vehicles - (status 2) - All other government vehicles will park in the remaining available spaces in the Category 6 parking area or in the gravel parking lot located between M&M and the laundromat/carwash. 8. Shop Maintenance Yard - (maintenance scheduled) - Only vehicles awaiting maintenance or maintenance vehicles which require additional security may be parked within the Shop Maintenance Yard. Employees who work out of the shop may park their POV’s in the yard as space is available. 9. Cummings’ Lot - (term parking/storage) - Winter/off seasonal storage for all government vehicles and equipment including fire engines, holdovers, sales vehicles, trailers, specialized equipment and etc. Parking in this lot will be coordinated with the Fleet/Safety Manager. Large public meetings or conferences at the SO (during normal working hours) may require all parking areas adjacent to the building to remain open for visitor parking for the duration of that meeting. Employees will be notified prior to any such meeting or conference. Remember, the location of parked government vehicles in no way ensures complete and absolute security of that vehicle. The contents of each vehicle must be safeguarded by the operator by ensuring the vehicles are locked and equipment in the beds of pickups/trucks are secured thru some proper mechanism. Keys should not be stowed in the vehicle’s fuel filling port area. Concerns or questions should be addressed to the Forest Technical Services Staff Officer. Parking plan link: 6440 parking plan.pdf
