The Visual3D™ software has been developed
continuously since 1997 by C-Motion Inc of
Maryland, USA. Visual3D is an extremely
powerful yet easy to use package for the
development and processing of biomechanical
models. You can now combine this with
the easy-to-use grayscale Vicon MX system
as well as the industry’s leading reporting
software, Vicon Polygon. This gives you a
unique combination of the highest quality
data and flexible software allowing you to set
up a straightforward, customized workflow.

VISUAL BIOMECHANICAL MODELING
The Vicon MX motion capture data is imported
directly into the Visual3D™ software. You can
then choose to use a pre-defined template to
run a biomechanical model automatically and
save the results out directly – or you can create
a new model or modify an existing model. In
either case, the Visual3D™ software presents
you with a clear graphical user interface
including a full 3D workspace with easy-touse controls for selection and navigation as
well as a point-and-click interface for model
properties and parameters.

Acquire accurate and reliable data with the
grayscale Vicon MX system
Furthermore, Visual3D™ has built-in functions
for defining events such as foot strikes and
toe-offs both automatically and manually.
Advanced users can even create their own
scripts and plug-ins to automate common
tasks or extend the modeling capabilities of
the software. Once the data processing has
finished, the data can be exported straight to
the Polygon reporting software.
REAL TIME FOR BIO-FEEDBACK
Vicon Peak also streams data in real time into
Visual3D™, which opens a whole new set of
possibilities for bio-feedback applications.

solution for routine clinical processing and
advanced biomechanical research, based on
Visual3D™.
STEP 2
Develop and process
models with Visual3D™
biomechanical
centers, segments and joint angles. These
are then displayed graphically in real time,
allowing you to present biomechanical results
to the subject being motion captured, or to
other observers.
FLEXIBLE REPORTING
Once a biomechanical model has calculated
your desired results, you may want to present
the results in a report. Using the Vicon
Peak software with Visual3D™, you have two
options: either use the straightforward builtin capabilities of Visual3D™ or transfer your
data to Vicon Polygon, the industry’s premier
reporting package.

STEP 3
Generate, print and export electronic
reports using Vicon Polygon
to link the written report with the data,
which is visualized as graphs, tables, 3D
segments, movies or pictures. Furthermore,
Polygon allows you to export the report
to Microsoft Word for printing or further
editing. You can even export the report
electronically with the free Polygon Viewer
software, which means that the reader can
navigate through the report in a similar
fashion to web pages, clicking hyperlinks and
viewing data in full 3D.
DATA YOU CAN RELY ON
Vicon MX is the only true grayscale motion
capture system. Three cameras with different
resolutions are offered, from the cost-effective
VGA resolution MX3 through the high-speed,
high resolution MX13 to the industry’s first
four megapixel camera, the MX40. With all
MX cameras you get the same on-board
processing capabilities: true gray-scale
centroid fitting, threshold maps and highspeed Ethernet data transfer to the capture
PC. The unique capabilities of the MX system
mean that you can capture the most accurate
and reliable marker data, a very important
prerequisite for your biomechanical model.
Furthermore, acquiring your motion capture
data with Vicon Peak software is extremely
easy, and customizing the procedure according
to your preferences is straightforward. The
advanced algorithms that take the raw data
from the cameras and output 3D labeled
marker data are done automatically. This
means that you are able to review the data
immediately after capture, without any
manual intervention before you proceed to
the modeling stage.
