Mobile Field Assistance for SPPA-M3000

Plant and Operations Management

The mobile solution enables paper-less work and on-site inventory management.

Additionally, isolation execution, functional tests and operator rounds are guided through instructions which are downloaded on mobile devices. The on-site assets and the inspection points can be identified with RFID technology.

The Task

Although computer-based Enterprise Asset

Management (EAM) is currently the norm, it is often considered that using paper print-outs for work execution on site is unavoidable.

Examples include work-order forms with detailed description of the work to be done, spare parts pick lists, operator round reports and isolation and de-isolation lists. The use of print-outs is not only tedious and time-consuming, but it also creates the risk that wrong or incomplete data is transferred from paper back into the EAM base system.

mobile device. This includes feedback text and failure codes as well as the confirmation of individual actions (e.g. isolation and deisolation steps). This information in turn is then synchronized with SPPA-M3000 Plant or

Operations Management without any further manual steps.

On site, the Mobile Field Assistance provides more comfort and safety for the staff. It allows identification of assets via its embedded RFID technology. And it even suggests the shortest route from the current location to the next target point. This is an enormous advantage specifically for sequential actions (e.g. inspection rounds) in unknown environments.

Mobile device indicating the current position.

The shortest path from A to B can also be displayed.

Our Solution

The Mobile Field Assistance for the latest version of SPPA-M3000 Plant and Operations

Management overcomes all these obstacles and provides complete paper-less processes in various areas of operation and maintenance.

This includes work management, inventory management (e.g. spare parts issue from stock, goods receipt), operator rounds, and mechanical as well as electrical isolation. All relevant data are downloaded to the mobile device, thereby providing all necessary information for the maintenance engineer or the shift crew member to execute their work on site and even on a satellite.

Additionally, operation and maintenance staff can enter all required data directly into their

Answers for energy.

Functional Overview:

Mobile Work Management

Mobile Work Management is an AddOn component of the Plant Management module “Maintenance Management”.

The relevant work order can be downloaded to the mobile device. This includes all planning data as well as all sub-activities.

The work on site is then conducted by following the instructions on the mobile device and each activity can be marked as “completed”.

Afterwards the data is synchronized with the Plant Management database.

Additionally, fault notifications and work requests can be captured on site with the mobile device and afterwards uploaded to the Plant Management data base for further considerations.

Mobile Inventory Management

This component comes as an AddOn of the Plant Management module

“Spare Parts Management” and comprises of several features. It helps maintenance technicians – without the need for printed pick-lists – to issue those parts from the storeroom which they need for their maintenance activities.

In turn, spare parts which are not needed can be placed back into stock.

Storeroom technicians may utilize the mobile inventory management to transfer parts from one location to another within a storage location, or across various locations. Furthermore they are supported in executing periodic physical/cycle counts.

Finally, this mobile AddOn component can be used to display purchase orders in order to document the corresponding goods receipts – partially or in total.

Again, all mobile actions taken are synchronized with the Plant Management base system.

Mobile Isolation Management

This AddOn component of the Plant

Management module “Occupational and

Operational Safety” supports paper-less execution of mechanical and electrical isolations on site.

For a specific isolation, the list of switching operations can be downloaded to the mobile device and executed and confirmed on site. In turn, the execution of de-isolations (so-called “normalizations”) is also supported by the mobile front-end.

Certain function tests (e.g. of a motor) frequently need to be performed in between isolation and de-isolation are supported.

The Mobile Isolation AddOn component also supports the setting and re-setting of parameters for function tests on site.

Mobile Operator Rounds

Finally, Mobile Operator Rounds is an AddOn component of the Plant Management module “Shift Management”. It provides a mobile front-end for shift personnel to document measurement values and findings on their routine walks on a predefined route between various check points.

Enhanced Integration Capability:

Additionally, the Mobile AddOn increases the base integration capabilities of

SPPA-M3000 Plant Management through web services . The transmission of data from other applications to the plant management system is further opened up.

The data is transferred directly, as soon as the web service is accessed. The web services ensure that the transmitted data conforms to the business rules inherent within the SPPA-M3000 Plant Management product line. This way, your plant management system can be even more tightly integrated with your other systems.

Cross-functional features:

RFID Usage

Whenever an activity (e.g. maintenance measure, switching operation, etc.) on the mobile device refers to a plant item or equipment, this asset can be “verified” on site, i.e. the user can check whether he is standing in front of the asset in question.

This feature is based on RFID technology

(“Radio Frequency Identification”), which is an integral part of the Mobile Field

Assistance for SPPA-M3000 Plant and

Operations Management. Its application requires that each or at least each important asset on site is equipped with an RFID chip.

Map Navigation

The Mobile Field Assistance for SPPA-M3000

Plant and Operations Management can show a map and directions for the user from the start to the end point (see diagram on the front page). This displays the most direct route, e.g. for operator rounds. Pre-requisite for this feature is that customers’ locations have been digitalized.

Mobile work management avoids all paperwork in the work process, thus streamlining and accelerating routine work on site.

Mobile Field Assistance is based on SAP Agentry Mobile Platform.
