SPPA-E3000 Switchgear modernization
upgrades existing switchgear installations to
state-of-the-art technology, increases safety
and operational efficiency and integrates
the switchgear into the control system.
This solution is suitable for air-insulated
medium-voltage switchgear types from
all manufacturers.
Your Benefits
■ Increased availability
and the security of supply
through usage of newer
state-of-the-art
components
■ Low investment costs
thanks to retaining
of existing switchgear
■ Enhancement of the
personnel and operational
safety via the use of
components which meet
the latest standards and
regulations
■ Full integration
in SPPA-T3000
The Task
Throughout the entire asset life-cycle, the
operating conditions and the requirements
of the electrical equipment are changing,
e. g. after a life-time extension, a turbine
upgrade, or if the availability of spare parts
is no longer ensured due to obsolete
components.
However, the switchgear must still be capable
of being reliably switched on and off at any time
by either the user or the system. But, this
does not necessarily lead to a need for renewal
of the complete switchgear. Often it may be
sufficient to change only the protection systems
and switching devices and not the whole
switchgear itself.
Our Solution
is a turnkey solution which contains all
components and services for upgrading
the medium voltage switchgear to the latest
technology and the most economical standard
as well as seamlessly integrating the switchgear
into our distributed control system SPPA-T3000.
The solution comprises:
■ Vacuum circuit-breaker, withdrawable units
■ Digital protection devices
■ Compliance with current requirements
for personnel safety
■ Connection of the new components
to the existing interfaces
■ Communication interface for the connection
to the distributed control system
Modern vacuum circuit-breakers are far less
independent from the environment than older
switching devices which are based on other
switching principles. Vacuum circuit-breakers
can be integrated into the existing switchgears
and lead to higher availability – with derably
lower investment costs compared to a complete
exchange of a medium-voltage switchgear.
As there is no need for modifications concerning the existing housing of the switch-gear
and the building, this kind of modernization
causes only a short interruption of operation
of the switchgear. Expenses for approval
procedures can be saved, too. Investment
costs can be thus reduced to a minimum.
Due to the usage of the modern digital
protection devices of the SIPROTEC family,
the highest reliability of power supply
and operational safety is ensured.
Our services comprises:
■ On-site inventory
■ Design and configuration of the components
based on local conditions and requirements
■ Removal of old components and installation
of switchgear and protection devices of the
latest generation
■ Commissioning and inspection on site
■ Complete documentation
■ Best-in-class project management
Modern vacuum circuit-breakers are suitable for all
existing air-insulated medium voltage switchgear types.
