It is taught using the Linux operating system. The student learns to create, remove, edit and rename files, directories and subdirectories; compose, send, receive and print electronic messages; and compose, edit and format short text files using the UNIX editors. The UNIX shell, kernel and utility programs are covered. Shell programming is introduced.
