Approval of minutes from October 22 meeting; Jeff moves to approve, Richard seconds, all vote to approve 2. Update on policies and procedure form: Chandra & Jeff a. Council has started to discuss each point on the form. It will continue in the next meeting. 3. Update on the review process for GI courses a. Postponed until next meeting. 4. Student Appeal a. Update from Marloes i. The student has decided not to appeal for GI credit. b. Updated appeal for BAT300 c. Emily mentioned that there were stereotypes toward the French mentioned by the student and that the written summary she gave the council did not refer to the GI goals and objectives. She suggested the student try an appeal for the World Religions course she took. Chandra expressed concern that the work the student had done on the Bank of England did not seem academic in nature. The council took a look at the assignments the student submitted at the meeting. Emily also asked whether the Council should consider her taking French in high school as the student presented; there is also a World Religions course that she took. There was discussion of whether the student meets the GI goals and objectives. New Council member Fetene noted that the student has learned during the study abroad program. Jeff senses that she had a very rich experience, but it has not been documented. Doug mentions that any travel will result in student learning. Bhavneet mentions that she discussed the goals and objectives with the student. Jeff moves to accept this appeal for GI credit. Marloes seconds.
