What Brazilian students say Felipe Costa Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (UFMT) Monash University, in Melbourne Australia has been very privileged to receive study abroad students from Brazil through the Brazilian Scientific Mobility Program (Ciencia sem Fronteiras). Here is what Felipe Costa had to say about his experience. of studying by himself. There are also really well equipped labs, making the practical classes really interesting and useful. Faculty of Science. Why did you choose Monash and has it been a positive experience? I chose Monash because the units offered by the university seemed really interesting and they would add a lot to what I had been studying before coming to Australia. Besides, [Monash] is one of the best universities in the country, the campus facilities looked incredible, and also because it is located in Melbourne, one of the most amazing cities I have been to. How have you found the support from the Monash Abroad Office and Monash University? I am really amazed with the support provided. Every problem or situation I had to deal with, either the Monash Abroad Office or Monash University itself always helped me to sort things out and that is really important to a study abroad student. Describe your academic experience at Monash? So far it has been really interesting, the way the education system works, really different compared to what I am used to back home. At Monash I noticed that the student is responsible and expected to study by himself, the classes are not as long as in my university but there are a lot of content that we have to study while at home which I think it is really interesting since it makes the student create the habit Australia CHINA india italy Describe your social experience at Monash? That is probably one of the best parts of studying abroad. There are so many people from so many different countries and as a result so many different cultures, that you get to know so many interesting things you would probably not know if you did not have the opportunity to meet those people. I am sure I will miss that when returning home. Why do you think studying in Australia is beneficial to your studies/career? Apart from the professional growing, the fact to be in another country with different habits and cultures, it is an opportunity that not so many people have and that is for sure what makes us grow as a person. Facing new challenges every day is common for any human being, but being able to overcome those barriers is what make us more prepared and better people and studying abroad is an excellent way to experience that. I am sure that this experience is something I will carry with me my whole life and having a great university in the resume is a great difference in the current competitive market. What do you like about Melbourne/Victoria? Melbourne is an incredible city. It is not considered the cultural city of Australia for no reason. There is always something happening in the city, special concerts, exhibitions Malaysia south africa and so on, sometimes it is even hard to cope with that, the options are infinite. I live in a city with not many options of things to do and the moment I arrived in Melbourne I realized how lively this city is. Melbourne is also a really safe city, which makes me feel really comfortable while just going for a walk or cycling at night, always listening to some good music of course. I find it really hard for someone not to fall in love with this city. What do you hope to do after you graduate? How will your study abroad experience help you achieve that? After I graduate I hope I can work in a multinational company. I think that besides the chance of improving my English, all the experience I am having here will count a lot when I return, not only the classes and the internship, which are fantastic, but also the personal experiences. We go through many situations whilst doing an internship and for me that is a key factor for any person who aims to be successful in life.
