OPERATION, MAINTENANCE &
MANAGEMENT AT THREE WASTEWATER
TREATMENT FACILITIES
The City of Cape Town has advertised two
tenders on 6 May 2011 and will be issuing a
further tender inviting potential service
providers to submit proposals for operating,
maintaining and managing (i) the Zandvliet
Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) and (ii)
the Fisantekraal WWTW and (iii) the Biosolids
Processing Facility which is part of the Cape
Flats WWTW. The service provider will be
required to contract with the City for a period
of fifteen (15) years. In terms of Section 33 of
the Municipal Finance Management Act (56 of
2003) viz., Contracts having future budgetary
implications, the City of Cape Town is required
to invite the local community and other
interested persons to submit to the municipality
comments or representations in respect of the
proposed contracts.
