Optional Materials: None 13. Course Outcome Competencies: Upon completion of this course the student should be able to: Describe and classify the global marketplace for Human Resource Management. Interpret technology aspects of Human resource Management. Determine changes in demographic and workplace needs. Explain the importance of development of human capital (training) and examine models of training. Assess the Human Resource environment using market indicators in Human Resource Management. Develop strategies of cost containment through Human Resource Management. Interpret legal requirements for Human Resource Management. Develop Human resource policy for a firm. Prepare for the Professional Human Resource Certification Examination. 14. Attendance Requirements: The instructor may excuse absences for valid reasons, but missed work must be made up within the semester/term of enrollment. Work missed through unexcused absences must also be made up within the semester/term of enrollment. In the event of two consecutive weeks of unexcused absences in a semester/term of enrollment, the student will be administratively withdrawn, resulting in a grade of "F". A "Contract for Incomplete" will not be issued to a student who has unexcused or excessive absences recorded for a course. Students receiving Military Tuition Assistance or Veterans Administration educational benefits must not exceed three unexcused absences in the semester/term of enrollment. Excessive absences will be reported to the appropriate agency and may result in a monetary penalty to the student. Report of a "F" grade (attendance or academic) resulting from excessive absence for those students who are receiving financial assistance from agencies not mentioned above will be reported to the appropriate agency 15. Documentation of a disability must accompany any request for accommodations.” 16: Course Requirements and Grading Criteria: Mid-Term - Open Book - 30 points - (Midterm will consist of multiple choice, discussion, fill-in-the blank, and true/false) Class Project – Conflict Resolution Class Project 10 points – This assignment is to be completed in class. If you are unable to attend class, you can submit a 1000 word paper on Conflict Resolution. Written and Oral presentation – 30 points - Research a topic that relates to Human Resources and write a 5 – 7 page paper in the APA format. Papers will be written as an essay with at least 3 references. You will give a 5 minute summary of what you learned from your research. If you cannot be present your paper in person you can record and send to the instructor. 2 Weekly Articles - 5 points each for a total of 10 points Class Participation - 10 points (in class and blackboard participation will be counted). You must be present to earn participation points. If you have a valid excuse you can submit a 500 page essay on the chapters discussed the week of your absence.
