Motion passed. 2) Business • Introduction of attending members • Math Presentation from Mrs. Crawford and Mrs. Arnold-"Math Plan"-improving math/problem solving skills, trying to work towards a level 3-identify struggles-make math fun-increase learning • Dance-for-a-Donation-March 13th (Friday before March Break). • Funds raised will go towards Arts Day. • need finger lights-sold for 50 cents-great success. Ron and Jenn T. are available to help the day of. they will order 700-750 finger lights. • might need more water and pop, Jenn H. will check • need sourkeys, chips and water (Jenn to price out small bottles of water-a lot of bottles wasted last year-may be more expensive? will check) • Jenn will distribute Pledge Envelopes to each class by March 2nd • Marni will decide on scheduling for that day • Mark will donate his time-volunteer to DJ again-we decided on a $100 gift certificate to give Mark (last year the restaurant that we gave a g.c. for went out of business) • ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO HELP OUT WITH THE DANCE-FOR-A-DONATION PLEASE EMAIL JENN Chocolate Bar Sales: March 13-31. 3) Principal's Report/Vice Principal's Report • • great Math Presentation. report cards home today. • playground busy-lots of snow-reminding of safety (ie: traffic, tunnels and ice dangers). No new news with future playground-current status is that it's with the township-sit tight-Marnie will keep us informed. • Snowball boards-to be hung on ball diamond fences-safe area-manageable-boards will offer different # challenges-kids can help to develop games. can use with bean bags/balls in the Spring. • Primary 100 celebration. Colour teams. lots of Intramurals/Clubs/Sports. • Arts Workshop Day April 2nd. • Staff changes Mr. Matheson on leave-Mrs. Moore covering core french. • Safety. 2 Lock Down drills. 2nd one coming soon. OPP will be involved. • Barb: school travelling planning team. getting kids to school safely. collected data from kids: 56% walk. 27% cars. 16% bus. 1% other. trying to encourage more kids to walk-safely. • Live Free Campaign. March 6. $ towards snack & lunch program. a day where kids give something up (ie: technology). 4) Fundraising/LaMontagne Final/Labels • Elora Labels. will get a cheque at the end of the year. will put together a package for the new kindergarten kids. 5) Treasurer's Report • • Financial summary reviewed. Council received a letter from Mrs. Preston requesting $ allocated for Forest of Reading be changed to funds allocated for Book Club. all members agree to donate funds to Book Club instead of Forest of Reading 6) Other/Update on Playground • No major updates with future playground-current status is that it's with the township-sit tight-Marni will keep us informed. 7) New Business • discussed "Family Fun Night" combined with Arts Day. during Education week. May 7th. Leah will redo a letter requesting donations for prizes for this year. will forward to all members. if everyone could send/deliver a few letters and aim to get 1-2 donations it would make much less work than having 1-2 people do it all.
