1. Motion to approve previous minutes: Jenn T. asked for a correction under Dance-a-thon.
Change approved. Crysten moved. Motion passed.
2. Principal’s Report – Marni would like to update on changes made to the school to help
with traffic congestions during peak times. There is a new No Left Turn sign at the
school entrance to improve congestion when leaving the school.
3. Kate Berry, the UGDSB School traffic plan coordinator, presented a report with some
statistics about the board’s plans. Last year has been focused on assessing the traffic
patterns at the school. More walk home from school than walk to school. Bused students
increased from 15% to 21% since last year. She provided a map, with concentric circles
of estimated 5 minute and 10 minute walking times.
Ideas Generated:
Creating a walking School Bus
Classroom competitions/Grade competitions
Continuous path from new housing development through to school property
Disperse drop-off locations around the periphery of school yard
Kate speaking with CW Municipality re: their initiative to improve trails and paths
in CW. They have long term planning taking place now, for 2-3 years ahead.
Kate will provide information re: A Family Survey that could be dispersed by the
school.
Crossing at St. David Street, why no crossing guard? Need a certain amount of
walkers to justify a crossing guard. If we can prove a need we can get one.
Kate to follow up with town re: crossing guard requirements
Kate to provide the Family Survey for us to review and implement at the next
meeting.
4. Old Business
● Shirley: Shirley to create the Survey Monkey Parent Council questionnaire
● Promote School Council – Teachers, newsletters, personal invites…
● School Sport Uniforms – Action Item Vote to be delayed until March 3/16

Spirit Wear – Approval of vendor – Quotes are comparable. Going to find out
timeframes from both vendors and provide to council via email, for a vote to take
place by email.
Chocolate Bars – arriving March 1st, will need volunteers to help disperse.
Teacher Appreciation Card given by Julia to teachers on behalf of students on
Feb 8th
Treasurer’s Report – Same as last month, no changes to funds.
Dance-a-thon – shopping to be done soon. Further updates at March 3rd
meeting.
