Policy Statement
It is the policy of the Upper Grand District School Board to establish procedures
for use in emergency situations at schools, Board sites and in the community.
The goals of this policy are:
• to protect the health, safety and well-being of students, staff, volunteers
and visitors,
• to safeguard the natural environment, and
• to minimize the impact on the Board’s physical assets.
2.
Details
2.1
The Director of Education or designate shall consult with appropriate
Senior Administrators to convene an ad hoc Emergency Control
Committee (ECC), as required. The circumstances of the emergency
will help determine the team’s composition, including municipal
authorities where necessary.
2.2
For school sites, it is the responsibility of all Superintendents of
Education to ensure that each school has a School Emergency
Response Plan (ERP) and an Emergency Response Team (ERT).
2.3
For other Board-owned sites, it is the responsibility of the Director of
Education to designate Site Managers and ensure that each site has an
ERP and ERT.
2.4
Principals and Site Managers shall develop the ERP and make staff
members and volunteers aware of the ERP.

2.5
Principals and Site Managers shall make students and visitors aware of
their responsibility to follow the directives of the ERP.
2.6
The Manager of Operations shall ensure that there are current, valid
emergency procedures from each municipality in the area served by the
Board.
