They are offering internships in ten different areas of specialty: Artistic Direction; Literary Management; Stage Management; Production Management; Theatre Arts Education; Development & Special Events; Community Engagement; Communications and Marketing; Graphic Production and Theatre Management; and Children’s Theater Producing. We are also pleased to announce a new program for training Teaching Artists. Participants will work with a mentor in their department who will provide constant feedback to augment the learning experience as well as integrate fully into the company over the course of the ten month season. Auditions at Shadblow Theatre Shadblow Theatre, a new theatre company based in Jenison, MI at the Jenison Center for the Arts, is holding auditions. These are 11 (eleven) week and 12 (twelve) week commitments. Interns must be current or recent college students, and at least 18 years of age to qualify. Only applicants with prior educational or professional experience in the area of the internship will be considered. Technical Internship positions available include: ASSISTANT TO THE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assisting in construction, load-in, run and strike of productions; supervising student shop workers; and maintaining shop and supplies. Qualified candidates should have at least 2 years of technical theater experience, especially scenery construction. 12-week commitment, May 26th-Aug. 14th. $1800-$2500 season stipend, based on experience. MASTER ELECTRICIAN. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: execution of repertory light plot from hang to focus; programming Ion Console; board oping for performances; and troubleshooting/maintenance. Qualified candidates should have at least 2 years of lighting production experience. 12-week commitment, May 26th-Aug. 14th. $1800-$2500 season stipend, based on experience. 3 GENERAL PRODUCTION: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: working as part of a team, as needed, on carpentry, rigging, electrics, scene painting, and running crew. Qualified candidates should have some experience in each of these areas, with specialized skills in at least one. 11-week commitment, May 26th-Aug. 9. $1800 season stipend. PROPERTIES MASTER: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: pulling, locating, renting, buying or building all performance props – in coordination with TD, scenic designer and stage management – and then maintenance throughout a six-week, three-show rotating-repertory run, including repairs, cleaning, replenishing consumables, set-ups and change-overs. Valid drivers license required. Car is a plus (gas reimbursed). $1800 season stipend. 2 COSTUMING/WARDROBE ASSISTANTS: Responsibilities include: assisting Head Costumers as needed with all aspects of costume construction, fitting and alterations; and maintenance of all costumes throughout the six-week, three-show rotating-repertory run, including repairs, laundry, set-ups and change-overs. $1800 season stipend. STAGE MANAGEMENT: Working as a team, under the supervision of the Production Stage Manager, stage managers are responsible for duties as assigned, including: scheduling and daily communication (especially with actors and staff); running rehearsals (calls, being on book, recording blocking, rehearsal props); and performances (calling show, deck assignment, set up and changeovers). $1800 season stipend. OSTF provides all interns with single, studio-apartment housing (includes a private bath and kitchenette, and is within easy walking distant of the theater). More information can be requested and provided upon applying. Internships at Purple Rose The Purple Rose Theatre company will be celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary next year! The 25th Anniversary season includes world premiere plays by Tony and Golden Globe nominee, Emmy Winner and Purple Rose founder Jeff Daniels, as well as star of stage, screen and television actor Matthew Letscher. The Purple Rose is currently looking for apprentices for this special season. The Purple Rose Theatre Apprentice Program is unique in the business. Unlike other programs where apprentices specialize in one area, apprentices at the Purple Rose work seven to eight different production-related positions over the course of a year. They work side by side with world-class professionals in an exciting, collaborative environment. Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia is accepting applications for their Professional Apprentice Program. Positions are full time during an entire season, have a stipend, and are available in every department. Our own Laura Van Tassell (‘09) is a product of this program. After a season as the Development Apprentice, she worked for a few smaller local companies and spent two years with the Philadelphia Fringe Festival (now FringeArts) as their Development Associate and Grants Writer. Arden Professional Apprentice Program Description: The Arden Theatre Company is currently seeking its 23rd class of Arden Professional Apprentices (APAs) for the upcoming 2015/16 season. The Arden Professional Apprentice Program’s philosophy is to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the inner workings of a nonprofit regional theatre. It was designed with the intent to foster future theatre leaders providing education and understanding in EVERY aspect of operations including front of house, box office, marketing, development, artistic, education, production, stage management, finance, and general management. This apprenticeship is a full-time-plus commitment from its start in August until is completion in mid-June. Housing and transportation are the apprentice’s responsibility. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. The program offers a salary of $400 per week, health insurance, paid time off, complimentary tickets to Arden Theatre Company productions, understudy opportunities, and the opportunity to meet and network with members of the Philadelphia community.
