May 2010 UCCS Facilities REMINDER: The Facilities Services Department has an on line system to submit your work request. Please go online to http://arc.uccs.edu/uccs/menu page.cfm. Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm at 255-3313 Facilities Services Cell (7:30 am—11:00 pm) at 492-8329 In order to keep up with the growth and ser-vices of the UCCS campus, the Facilities Services department has organized itself into two primary areas; Planning & Construction and Physical Plant Maintenance. The Planning & Construction team is actively working major projects including the renovation of the existing Science Bldg and Heller Property. The Physical Plant team includes five work groups; Maintenance, Grounds, Electrical, Plumbing/HVAC, and Custodial. Their responsibilities include maintaining 890,675 square feet of General Fund buildings along with 250 acres of landscaped property. Our Facilities Ser-vices administrative team is the glue that keeps our teams connected. Each team is committed to the continued improvement of the UCCS campus and serving you. SURPLUS COMPUTERS and FURNITURE Does your department have any unused computers or furniture to be disposed? Have you ever wondered how to get rid of those old, unusable department computers? Give them to us! Facilities Services is responsible for properly disposing of old computer units. We pick up your old computers, take them to the IT Department for “sanitizing”, and dispose of them according to state regulations for a small fee (approximately $5.00 per computer unit). This fee helps to cover the cost of transporting and storing these units at our offsite storage facility. Now you may be wondering, how do you go about asking us to pick up these old computers? That‟s easy! All you have to do is submit a work request by going to: problem type is “SURPLUS”, specify exactly what needs to be picked up and exactly where it is located, and within two weeks we will be on our way! Over 9500 plants were put in to planters around campus during the last two weeks. Our grounds crew has been busy! Facilities Services 2010 Student Employee Graduates As the academic year comes to a close, Facilities Services would like to acknowledge and congratulate our student employees who are graduating this May. Our graduates include Briana Carlin, Brett Swaving and Richelle Curry. Briana is a Geography and Environmental Studies major who has worked for The Sustainability Office for one year. She has recently taken an internship at El Paso Natural Gas and is excited to see what the future holds. Briana enjoys backpacking and plans to do as much of it as she can this sum- mer! Brett has worked for the Maintenance Crew at Facilities Services for two years and is receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Brett enjoys playing recreational sports and plans to travel the world in the very near future. Richelle has worked in the Facilities Services Main Office for three years and has recently taken an administrative position at a local dental office. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Applied Communications this May, she will continue her education at UCCS working towards a Master‟s Degree in Organizational Communications. Al- Congratulations to our very own 3rd Annual Staff Games Winners! Dwayne Freeman, Carolyn Upchurch, Craig Ginter, Samantha Winter, and Rhea Taylor competed against the best of the best on campus in various skill games to take this year's title! though everyone at Facilities Services is sad to see these students go, we are extremely proud of all their accomplishments.
