Rob Dougherty has been at the UCCS campus for approximately 1.5 years and is currently the Physical Plant Director. Rob has a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management and has been involved in physical plant management for over 10 years. At UCCS Rob’s primary duties include formulating and managing department budgets, establishing and promoting operational philosophy for the plant, and general supervision of the entire department. Rob has made great strides in improving department efficiency and productivity, as well as making an effort to understand all the dynamics that make up Facilities Services. Although he has only been with us a short time, Rob is always eager to learn as much as he can about UCCS and is consistently focusing on long-term goals. Fun fact about Rob: He enjoys fly-fishing and snow skiing. Who is JIMMY MUNIZ? Jimmy Muniz has been at the UCCS campus for over 17 years and is currently the Assistant Physical Plant Director. Jimmy started out at UCCS supervising the Plumbing Department and persevered his way to his current position. Jimmy’s a busy guy here at Facilities Services; he has a variety of duties and responsibilities that include supervising custodial and surplus operations, directing procurement services, and overseeing project manage- ment. Not to mention, he assists Rob Dougherty in all his day to day tasks. Jimmy has witnessed many changes during his time at UCCS, and is excited to see the campus blossoming more and more every year. Next time you see him walking around campus, say hello! Fun fact about Jimmy: He once considered a professional career in billiards. Have you ever wondered where those beautiful flowers around campus come from? Many of them come from the Facilities Services greenhouse. This little box of sunshine is located on the east end of campus by the Campus Services Building and is maintained by the hardworking Grounds Crew all year long. If you were to take a peek inside this greenhouse, you would find approximately 4800 flowers ready to flourish and bloom in the sunlight. Many of these flowers include zalias, xenias, petunias, snapdragons, marigolds, and geraniums. During the warmer seasons you will see these flowers popping up in many different campus locations. The grounds crew works hard all summer long pruning these flowers and maintaining the flower beds so that the campus is more pleasing to the eye. Next time you are strolling around campus, take a minute to admire these beautiful pieces of nature. A big thank you goes out to the Facilities Services Grounds Crew (and their green thumbs) for all their hard work!
