Math for Elementary Teachers Math 3010-002 Instructor: Christy Nelson E-mail: christy.nelson@asd20.org 6:05-7:20 MW Osborne Center B216 Office hours: ENG 289, Wednesdays 4:50-5:50pm Homework: It is nearly impossible to master the concepts of this course without practicing them yourself. As a result, homework will be assigned and collected daily. I will collect the homework two class periods after we cover the sections in class, this way you have at least one office hours before it is due to ask questions. However, you may hand it in earlier to receive written feedback sooner. Homework will count for 15% of your grade. No late homework will be accepted. Your lowest homework assignment will be dropped. In cases where there is work to be shown, you MUST show work in order to get credit on a problem. Answers alone are insufficient. Attendance: Attendance will be taken nightly and worth 5% of your grade. You are responsible for making sure you sign in for each class. Exams: There will be four exams during the course of the semester combining as 55% of your final course grade. We will be covering the first 8 chapters. The first exam will cover chapter 2 (10%), the second chapters 3 & 4 (15%), the third chapters 5 & 6 (15%), the last chapters 7 & 8 (15%). There are no make-up exams unless prior arrangements have been made. Missed exams will be scored as a zero! Palm pilots and cell phones may not be used as calculators on exams; calculators may not be shared on exams. If you complete exams through the testing center please talk to me so that arrangements can be made. Final: The final will be cumulative and worth the remaining 25% of your grade. Exam date is: Monday, December 16th 4:45-7:15 PM. Military: If you are a military student with the potential of being called to military service and /or training during the course of the semester, please talk to me during the first week of class to discuss your situation.
