SUBJECT (Week 12) Date: 2 – 6 Nov 2015 Room 45 – W. Martin MATH 6A – PER 2 & 5 SCIENCE/HEALTH – PER 4 & 6 B-Read Math Triumphs Math Intervention Period 3 DO NOW ACTIVITY Use your flash cards to test your partner on Academic Vocabulary being used in this math lesson. Make the Story Problem organizer and highlight a problem you wish to share with the class. Use flash cards to test your partner on Academic Vocabulary that you are presently using in this Science lesson. Make flash cards that show how to add fractions with like denominators. LANGUAGE OBJECTIVE SWBAT multiply and divide integers is various math problem situations using the academic vocabulary positive integer, negative integer, addition, and division. Students will know there are three main types of plate boundaries, where stresses cause rocks to deform and use academic vocabulary: San Andreas Fault and uplift. Students will add simple fractions with like denominators using the academic vocabulary: common denominator, like fractions, simplest form, and mixed number. STANDARDS By the end of the week, students will be able to multiply and divide integers in various equations. They will also be able to use ratios and variables in real life mathematical situations. Students will know and understand the geologic events that occur at plate boundaries can save lives and prevent damage to property. By the end of the week, students will be able to solve problems involving addition of positive fractions and explain why a particular operation was used for a given situation. ESSENTIAL QUESTION How can you represent quantities by using variables and ratios? Why is it important to know where geologic events occur at plate boundaries that affect people who lives and property? How do you add fractions with like denominators? HOMEWORK Do problems 1-66, page 109 to 111 in Multiplying Integers. Do problems 1-56, page 116 to 118 in Dividing integers. Do CPM Section 4.2, pages 185 to 202. Copy and answer all the questions 1 to 7 on page 226. Copy and answer questions 1 to 32, pages 6 to 10. Do the Scavenger Hunt on page 1 in Volume 2B, Fractions and Decimals. TEST Your test will be on 122 problems of multiplying and dividing integers from your homework. Your test will be Chapter 5 Standards Assessment, problems 1 to 11, page 236 and 237.
