Step 1:
Assign the cost of the beginning

Step 2: Continue to work forward until you

International Inventory
Valuation Methods
 Acceptable methods of costing inventory in the
United States may not be acceptable in other
countries
• LIFO is generally accepted in the United States
• IASB (international standards) prohibit the use
of LIFO by companies that follow international
standards
 It is uncertain whether LIFO will survive as an
acceptable inventory valuation method
