Safeguarding Policy (Including Bribery) Introduction Inspirative Arts identify that in providing services to vulnerable adults and children, it has a duty to safeguard them from harm or the risk of harm. Inspirative Arts duties are covered in the document ‘Dropbox’ > ‘Templates and form’ > ‘Policies’ > ‘Safeguarding’ > ‘Safeguarding Policy 2014 – info for clients on request’. This document also covers employee duties and code of conduct, and the role of social services and other agencies. The definition of a vulnerable adult/child can be found in the document ‘Dropbox’ > ‘Templates and form’ > ‘Policies’ > ‘Safeguarding’ > ‘Defining A Vulnerable Adult & Identifying Abuse 2014 (StaffVols)’, as can information surrounding types of abuse, how to identify abuse and risk factors. If ever you would like to refer to either of these documents, they can be located in the ‘policy folder’ which is kept in the office. Just ask one of the directors, or the administrator for access to this. Contact information needed for this you can find in the ‘useful contacts’ section of this policy Definitions of bribery and staff and volunteer responsibilities Definition: Bribery (in relation to staff members receiving gifts of bribery) A Bribe is defined as an Inducement (gift/money etc) given to or received by an Inspirative Arts employee, whereby the giver is dishonestly persuading the receiver to act in their favour. Giving/Accepting gifts or favours from clients (extract from volunteer agreement) Staff and Volunteers are not to receive personal gifts from clients. This is to ensure that staff and volunteers do not benefit from vulnerable clients, to avoid accusations of theft and to avoid favouritism. Staff and Volunteers are also asked not to give gifts to clients. This could be seen as favouritism or misconstrued by the person receiving the gift.
