Safeguarding Policy
(Including Bribery)
Introduction
Inspirative Arts identify that in providing services to vulnerable adults and children, it has a duty to
safeguard them from harm or the risk of harm.
Inspirative Arts duties are covered in the document ‘Dropbox’ > ‘Templates and form’ > ‘Policies’ >
‘Safeguarding’ > ‘Safeguarding Policy 2014 – info for clients on request’. This document also covers
employee duties and code of conduct, and the role of social services and other agencies.
The definition of a vulnerable adult/child can be found in the document ‘Dropbox’ > ‘Templates and
form’ > ‘Policies’ > ‘Safeguarding’ > ‘Defining A Vulnerable Adult & Identifying Abuse 2014
(StaffVols)’, as can information surrounding types of abuse, how to identify abuse and risk factors.
If ever you would like to refer to either of these documents, they can be located in the ‘policy folder’
which is kept in the office. Just ask one of the directors, or the administrator for access to this.
The ‘whistle blowing’ process – how to deal with a safeguarding concern
Please refer to the following flow chart if ever you need to ‘whistle blow’ (report) a safeguarding
concern. PLEASE NOTE: Safeguarding concerns will always be dealt with by Sarah and/or Tracey
and/or Brigid, do not attempt to take the matter into your own hands! (unless your issue involves
them – see below)For the purpose of this policy the word ‘abuse’ refers to the definition outlined in
the document mentioned above – ‘Defining A Vulnerable Adult & Identifying Abuse 2014
(StaffVols)’
‘Management’ refers to the directors of Inspirative Arts.

being shared. Let the client speak/express
uninterrupted. Be understanding and reassuring. Make
it clear you cannot keep this information confidential,
but you will only pass it on to management.

Definitions of bribery and staff and volunteer responsibilities
Definition: Bribery (in relation to staff members receiving gifts of bribery)
A Bribe is defined as an Inducement (gift/money etc) given to or received by an Inspirative
Arts employee, whereby the giver is dishonestly persuading the receiver to act in their
favour.
Giving/Accepting gifts or favours from clients (extract from volunteer agreement)


Staff and Volunteers are not to receive personal gifts from clients. This is to ensure
that staff and volunteers do not benefit from vulnerable clients, to avoid accusations
of theft and to avoid favouritism.
Staff and Volunteers are also asked not to give gifts to clients. This could be seen as
favouritism or misconstrued by the person receiving the gift.
Under the Bribery Act 2010 it is illegal to bribe or offer to bribe, request,
agree to receive or accept a bribe (sections 1 and 2)Documents to refer to:
