Based in our new offices in Birmingham, you will work with our fundraising team to bring fresh ideas and plans on how we can make the most of our trusts and foundations, social investment and major donor work. Best wishes Clare Hunter Head of Communications and Fundraising Emmaus UK Page 2 of 5 Title of Post: Reports to: Location: Date: Trusts and Major Donors Manager Head of Communications and Fundraising Emmaus UK offices in Birmingham (some flexibility possible) June 2015 Overall Purpose of the Job Build, develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of charitable trusts and foundations, statutory funders, social investors, major donors and any other grant giving bodies in order to realise the objectives from the Emmaus UK fundraising strategy. Proactively identify funding and investment opportunities that will enable Emmaus UK and its members to realise the federation’s strategic plan. Facilitate relationships between members and suitable funders and work with grant giving bodies and investors to negotiate opportunities that will benefit Emmaus members across the UK. Principal Accountabilities In order to deliver the Emmaus fundraising strategy, the Trusts and Major Donors Manager will: Proactively establish, maintain and develop good relationships with funders, major donors and key personnel within funding organisations to ensure long term support for Emmaus. Identify, develop and maintain relationships with individuals who have the potential to become major donors and supporters for Emmaus. Represent Emmaus at networking events and face-to-face meeting with potential donors and investors, using networking and influencing skills to encourage donations, investment and support. Prepare and submit compelling and innovative funding applications and investment proposals that meet the strategic aims set out in the Emmaus Strategic Plan. Generate social investment that will support the Emmaus Fund, working alongside the fund manager. Ensure funding requirements are fully met and develop monitoring systems that ensure funders, investors and donors receive appropriate feedback. Meet and report on agreed financial targets as set by the EUK Board of Trustees. Maintain clear, accurate and up to date records and reporting system of project development, funding, approaches and outcomes and resource allocation to federation members. Page 3 of 5 Constantly strive to find new and innovative sources of income for Emmaus in the UK, working closely with the wider fundraising team an dthe Head of Communications and Fundraising. Work closely with senior members of the Emmaus UK team and its membership on identifying funding opportunities and allocation of national, regional and local funders. Support and increase capacity of members by assisting them to deliver on their fundraising targets by developing appropriate guidance and toolkits. General The post holder is responsible for ensuring their continued professional development, specifically to ensure their knowledge of fundraising is developed and maintained. The location of this role is negotiable but will require some time spent at with Emmaus communities and regular time spent in the Emmaus UK offices. Person Specification Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential: Significant experience in a fundraising role, with recent experience of working at a senior level. Significant experience of trust fundraising and major donor fundraising. Proven ability to meet or exceed challenging income targets, with a proven track record of soliciting five and six figure individual grants from a broad range of funders, including major donors, trusts and foundations and social investors. A clear understanding of social investment and the opportunities it presents to charities. Proven ability to identify and maximise the potential of new funding streams and income generation opportunities. Strong networking skills, with the ability to build and develop new relationships faceto-face with funders and major donors and be a strong ambassador for Emmaus. Confident presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence a broad range of audiences and stakeholders, including presenting the case for funding to potential funders. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Able to demonstrate creativity and flair by communicating with funders and donors across a range of channels Experience of working effectively with a broad range of people including communities, trustees and volunteers Experience of preparing reports for trustees and senior staff Proven track record of budgetary management Ability to analyse data to inform performance management Knowledge and experience of using fundraising or equivalent software packages Knowledge and understanding of fundraising regulations and legislation Able to identify and manage own priorities and conflicting schedule demands Strong IT skills, email and internet (including use of Microsoft packages) Desirable: Page 4 of 5 Experience of working with social investors to generate significant income.
