Monday Warm-Up: Compare and Contrast Discovery Ed. Question;
RL9. I can Compare and contrast texts in different forms
or genres (e.g., stories and poems; historical novels and
fantasy stories) in terms of their approaches to similar
themes and topics.
 Work on completing Sideways Stories from Wayside School
folders
o Vocabulary Definitions and crossword puzzle; RL4. I can
Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they
are used in a text, including figurative and
connotative meanings; analyze the impact of a
specific word choice on meaning and tone.
o SADDR; RL3. I can Describe how a particular story’s
or drama’s plot unfolds in a series of episodes as well
as how the characters respond or change as the plot
moves towards a resolution.
o Create your Own School; RL5. I can Analyze how a
particular sentence, chapter, scene, or stanza fits

how it is conveyed through particular details; provide
a summary of the text distinct from personal
opinions or judgments.

Wednesday- Sub for FAMS

the end of the year, read and comprehend literature,

text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as
needed at the high end of the range.

Thursday
 Watch “Wayside School” Video; RL7. I can Compare and
contrast the experience of reading a story, drama, or poem
to listening to or viewing an audio, video, or live version
of the text, including contrasting what they “see” and
“hear” when reading the text to what they perceive when
they listen or watch.

Friday Compare and Contrast Assessment; RL9. I can Compare and
contrast texts in different forms or genres (e.g., stories
and poems; historical novels and fantasy stories) in terms
of their approaches to similar themes and topics.
o Students will read an article on Japan schools and one
on Argentina schools- they will create a Venn diagram for
the 2 schools, then write a descriptive paragraph to
distinguish the similarities and differences between the 2
schools
 Creating a plot activity- due next Wednesday

• A, B, C, D Corners for Types of Compare/ Contrast multiple
choice warm-up
• Compare/ Contrast Test= Summative
Intervention
 Monday- Students who did not receive a C or above on Week 2
vocabulary test will review the vocabulary words with me
 Tuesday- Students from Monday will take an alternative form
of the vocabulary assessment
 OAA Practice Reading Packet to be worked on throughout the
week- excerpt from “Daddy Long Legs” looking at Plot!
