Assignment: The Video Scavenger Hunt

For this assignment, you will be drawing on both class discussion, and independent research to create a sort of anthology of commonly used film strategies.

In partners, you will be required to research the film strategies recorded below, as well as 5 additional shots of your choosing (one of which may be made up be you). You will then film each shot, import it into Adobe

Premiere Elements, and edit it (using editing techniques and transitions) to produce and export your first finished product in this course.

Here are your instructions:

1.

Create a shot list and post it to your blog. Title your post “Video Scavenger Hunt: The Shot List”

 Your shot list must include the title of the shot, its definition, an example of what it might be used to communicate, and the context of the specific shot you took.

2.

With a partner, use the equipment provided in class to film your shots. Remember: each shot should include 3-5 seconds of recording before and after the footage you actually want to capture. Aim to record shots that are between 10-15 seconds long. Once imported, you will edit your shots to be exactly 8 seconds long.

3.

Once all your shots are filmed, import them into Adobe Premiere Pro Elements, and edit your footage

(trim, mark, split…).

 Add a title to the beginning of your project

 Add a title indicating the type of shot to the beginning of each shot

 Add a transition between each shot (be sure to add text before transitions)
