The Village – Film Opening Analysis During the opening credits we see the names of all the people involved in the making of the film. They are in a white font on a dark background. Some of the writing is faded out by trees which can add to the feeling of fear. As this shot appears the music from the opening credits dies off slowly and as this shot appears a slow and sympathetic tone of music appears. The shot itself is an over the shoulder shot of the crowd where in the distance the man is leaning over the coffin on his own, this shows that he could be the protagonist of the film. This shot shows the man over the coffin slightly closer, however it is still an over-the-shoulder shot of the people stood watching him.
