You will be assessed on the Middle Ages Unit in a variety of ways. The following is a breakdown
of how you’ll be graded for this quarter. This breakdown also includes study guides for
upcoming assessments.
1. Crispin: The Cross Of Lead- There will be 2 literature circles per week (sometime in
March) for three weeks that address the book, Crispin: The Cross Of Lead. You will be expected
to read on average about 100 pages a week for three weeks (only 62 pages the final week). After
reading a passage you will complete the accompanying literature circle worksheet. Literature
circle worksheets will be due on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays you
have a chance to discuss the book with other randomly selected students. At the end of class you
will hand in your own individual literature circle worksheet for an individual grade.

4. Crusades Performance Assessment-You are an assistant to the Pope whose task it is to
create posters to persuade people to join the Crusades. You will work on a team to design and
make poster’s for the peasants’ crusade, noble’s crusade, the crusade of the kings, and the
children’s crusade. There will be an extremely detailed instruction/rubric document posted
online and handed out to each group when we get closer to working on this performance
assessment. TOTAL POINTS=40
