As I had already mentioned it to you, you are going to have to see me about it, Please come to my office at 9 tomorrow so we can discuss further action. Harry 11/05/14 Dear Dr. Ashford I wondered if you might be able to help with a matter regarding a friend of mine. Lately he has seemed quite depressed. I do talk to him about it but he is quite negligent to the idea that he might have a problem and he certainly will not go to the doctors. I try to see him as much as I can as I do feel sorry for him but I don’t know how I can help him and what to do, which is why I thought I’d try contacting you. Kind regards Reece Taylor Dear Reece First of all, can I ask why you think he has a problem with depression, what symptoms has he shown? Dr. Ashford Dear Dr. Ashford He is continuously in a low mood and sad, feeling helpless, anxious and he has a very low selfesteem. He has no motivation or interest in anything and gets no enjoyment out of anything. He does not work and he has no family so he is pretty much always alone and he feels he has nothing to live for. As I said, he will not consider that he needs help and I don’t know what I can do for him. Reece Dear Reece Your friend certainly sounds like he is displaying quite severe signs of depression but at this point I am obviously in no position to assess his condition and can only make an observation based on what you have told me. If he will not have any interaction with, or seek any advice from professionals then you should suggest he look at the NHS website for clinical depression http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Depression/ You could also help him by printing off the leaflet which is on that page and try and go through it with him. I also suggest that you look through this page which offers support to those who are dealing with friends or family suffering with depression - http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/stress-anxietydepression/Pages/depression-help-groups.aspx Despite what you have said I would really recommend that you go with him to see a professional who will be able to offer ample support but failing this I suggest you try to talk to him about it and also there are a lot of support groups which can be found on the first website I provided - these can be very beneficial. In the meantime you should continue to offer any support but ensure you keep an eye on his condition and should you feel it is worsening to a point that is seriously beyond your control, please contact me immediately. Dr. Ashford 16/05/14 Harry (Boss) Reece, Have you finished the atlas reports yet, I need the Ctt-s1 and Hbbs556 forms no later than tuesday to get approval in time. I know you were off today and so I am guessing they are not finished yet, but just make sure they are done though.
