Geo-church is a form of Spiritual Orienteering. It’s fun. It’s thought provoking. It’s a whole new way of looking at human activity in the landscape and finding God in both. Lets do Geo-church! Take a minute to pray for all who worship here and for the village Paul Church to Mousehole School We begin at Paul Church The first section of the walk is on narrow roads without pavements and involves a steep descent. There’s no rush! Mousehole School • • Think of something you enjoyed or enjoy about school. Say thank you to God for it. Do you still enjoy learning things? Think of something you would like to know or discover. How might you go about it? • This school is typical of many of the Primary Schools in our area. Pray for our work with the children and teachers in our schools • • • • The Harbour looks very quaint, but people struggle to make a living in this area and many depend on the tourist trade. Some still fish and farm in the area too. Pray for them and for all who come here for rest and relaxation. Jesus says, Come to me all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. He was the first Cornishman to be awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery. Yet he was buried in a pauper’s grave. Pray for people in the Services today and for those who support their families Think of a time you have been brave. How did it feel? What would you be prepared to stand up for even if you were in danger? Mousehole Harbour to The Old Coastguard If the weather is good, head along the coast path and up a passage to the hotel, or carefully follow the main road round TR19 6PR • • • As you look out to sea you are looking at one of the busiest commercial shipping lanes around Britain. Can you see any ships? Please pray for all who spend many weeks at sea, and for the work of the Coastguard and the Mission to Seafarers http://www.missiontoseafarers.org/ The Old Coastguard to the Shipping lanes With the Car Park on your left head out of Mousehole along the Parade, stopping opposite the Caravan Park Penlee Memorial Garden • • • The Penlee lifeboat disaster occurred on 19 December 1981 off the coast of Cornwall, in England, UK. The Lifeboat went to the aid of the coaster Union Star after its engines failed in heavy seas. After the lifeboat had managed to rescue four people both vessels were lost with all hands; in all, sixteen people died including eight volunteer lifeboatmen. Pray for the work of the RNLI You might like to visit their shop in Penzance The current Penlee Lifeboat is based in Newlyn Penlee Point to Newlyn Harbour Enjoy the walk along the coast now but keep your eye open for the cycle path route to Newlyn which opens up on your right opposite Roskilly Cottages. • This milestone marks the entrance to the cycle path. Take a minute to reflect on the images on it This route is the best into Newlyn if the sea is calm enough! Rosebud Court • • • • As the cycle path comes into Newlyn you pass Rosebud Court. Housing issues still continue to dominate local politics Many young people in our area find it hard to find a home. Pray for those organisations that try to provide and lobby the Government for affordable housing. Newlyn Harbour to Tolcarne Make your way through Newlyn carefully ending your walk near The Fishermen’s Memorial at the end of Art Gallery Terrace TR18 5PR • • • Newlyn brings in the greatest variety of high quality fish in Britain Many still work in Fishing and related industry Pray for The Fishermen's Mission www.fishermensmission.org.uk There are opportunities for refreshment as you go!
