Salvation consists of three parts: JUSTIFICATION, SANCTIFICATION and GLORIFICATION. What does justification accomplish for me? Romans 3:24, 25 (1651) Being justified… to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past. 4. What must I do to receive justification or forgiveness for past sins? 1 John 1:9 (1790) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 5. What else is justification called? John 3:3 (1549) Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. OUR SANCTIFICATION 6. What is sanctification? 1 Thessalonians 4:3-12 (1735) That everyone of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor. For God hath not called us unto uncleanliness but unto holiness. 7. How long does it take for a person to become fully sanctified? Ephesians 4:13 (1717) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. 8. How is sanctification accomplished? John 17:17 (1581) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. 9. Do I obey the word or does Jesus do it IN me? How does the Bible emphasize that salvation involves past, present and future? 2 Corinthians 1:10 (1691) Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver, in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us. How the Bible presents it: a. Justification is conversion. It delivers us from sin’s penalty. b. Sanctification is victorious living. It delivers daily from sin’s power. c. Glorification (entering heaven) will deliver us from sin’s presence. This means that (the other way around...): a. God has saved us from sin’s penalty - JUSTIFICATION. b. God is saving us from sin’s power - SANCTIFICATION. c. God will save us from sin’s presence - GLORIFICATION. 12. Is Jesus the sole basis for my salvation? Acts 4:12 (1596) Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 13. What part do I play in salvation? 2 Corinthians 8:12 (1698) If there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what a man hath, and not according to that he hath not. CHRISTIAN GROWTH A NECESSITY 14. What, according to Isaiah, is the big problem of sin? Isaiah 53:6 (1089) We have turned every one to his own way and God hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 15. How hard is it for me, sometimes, to let Jesus rule my life? Matthew 5:30 (1403) If thy right hand offend thee, cut it off. 16. Can I lose salvation once I have received it? The Bible says to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,” Philippians 2:12 (1724). How do I accomplish this? Philippians 2:13 (1724) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. JESUS, OUR WONDERFUL SAVIOUR 20.
