Enlightenment Artists Music and Ideas Invitatory for the Divine Office of Matins on Christmas Eve - Anonymous Christ is born to us: Come, let us adore him. Come, let us exult in the Lord, let us rejoice in God, our salvation: Let us fall down before his face, confessing, and rejoicing in him with Psalms. Christ is born to us: Come, let us adore him. Because God is a great Lord, and a great King over all gods: therefore the Lord will not reject His people: because all the ends of the earth are in his hand, and he observes the heights of the mountains. Come, let us adore him. Because the sea is his, and he made it, and he fashioned the dry places with his hands: (All Kneel) Come, let us adore, and fall down before God: let us weep before the Lord, who made us, because He is the Lord our God; and we are his people, and the sheep of his flock. Christ is born to us: Come, let us adore him. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as your fathers did in the day of temptation in the desert, when they tempted Me in their extremity, they tested and saw my works. Come, let us adore him. I was close to this generation for nearly forty years and said: These always err in heart; But they have not known my ways: to whom I swore in my anger: If they shall (ever) enter into my rest... Christ is born to us: Come, let us adore him. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Ghetto Gospel-Tupac Those who wiiiiish to follow me (my ghetto gospel) I welcome with my haaaaaaaaaands And the red sun sinks at last, into the hills of gold And peace to this young warrior, without the sound of guns [Verse One] If I could recollect a-from my hood days I sit and reminisce, thinkin of bliss on the good days I stop and stare at the younger, my heart goes to 'em They tested with stress that they under And nowadays things change Everyone's ashamed of the youth cause the truth look, strange And for me it's a first We left 'em a world that's cursed, and it - hurts Cause any day they'll push the button And all come in like Malcolm X or Bobby Hutton died for nuttin Don't it make you get teary, the world looks dreary When you wipe yo' eyes see it clearly There's no need for you to FEAR me If you take your time and HEAR me, maybe you can learn to CHEER me It ain't about black or white cause we human I hope we see the light before it's ruined, my ghetto gospel [Chorus] Tell me do you see that old lady, ain't it sad Livin out of bags, plus shes glad for the little things she, has And over there there's a lady, crazy Guess who's givin birth to a, baby? I refuse to be a role model I set goals, take control, drink out my own bottles I made mistakes, but learned from every one And when it's said and done, I bet there's got to be a better one If I upset you don't stress, never forget That God is up in this with me yet I feel his hand on my brain When I write rhymes I go blind and let the Lord do his, thang But am I less holy? Cause I chose to laugh and front, and drink a beer with my homies Before we find world peace We gotta find peace within the war in the streets, my ghetto gospel [Chorus] 1980-90 Generation X and Y What are the enlightenment ideas important to Tupac at this point in history?
