The New Mexico Medical Review Association
(NMMRA)
 Building a statewide coalition that represents a
variety of organizations focusing on the health
care quality improvement
 Working with local PBS stations to create
programming that highlights specific health
issues and features quality improvement
efforts, including local Champions of Change
 Placing special attention on diabetes among
Hispanic populations
NMMRA coalition was established in 2004
to:
 Build stronger alliances among health
care professionals/organizations
 Integrate diverse efforts of members
 Increase public awareness about
local/state programs
 Promote national and local RAM efforts
 Educate stakeholders about the work of
the state’s Medicare Quality
Improvement Organization (QIO) NMMRA
RAM Coalition activities include:
 Holding quarterly meetings
 Developing and implementing a public
relations and marketing plan
 Producing a resource guide of quality
improvement efforts
 Creating RAM pages on the QIO Web
site (www.nmmra.org/nmram/index.php)
 Working with PBS stations to produce
local programming and conduct other
outreach efforts
Community Resource Guide:
• Lists networks, partnerships,
coalitions, initiatives and programs in
New Mexico aimed at transforming
health care
 Offers coalition members an
opportunity to promote their quality
improvement efforts
 Supplements local PBS programming
by providing detail on a variety of local
efforts
 Serves to inform the media and to
promote additional networking
