 Designed, Developed and Operated Company’s unique freight products such as Sea

Air Combined Mode of Transport and LCL Direct Console box originating from Far

East /South East Asia and UAE, which were meant for transport and delivery to inland locations in Africa.

 Created a niche market for Dubai, India and Far East Pick & Pack plus air consolidation service to East Africa with a consistent air import of over 120 tons every month.

 Successfully developed business in the East Africa region for land based transport, freight forwarding & logistics by securing new accounts and expanding the existing business . In Uganda, this company operates its own ICD, Transit cargo terminal, railway sidings, customs bonded warehouses cranes & container handling equipments plus state of art warehouse facilities. It deploys a fleet of over 150 trucks, including low beds and car carriers.

 Managed business for the above facilities and sold freight and integrated logistics services for East Africa catering to regional customers & network. This included responsibility for freight, port clearance, inland haulage, customs clearance and warehouse management for import cargo as well as re-exports & distribution with tertiary transport in East & Central Africa.

 Project cargoes and inland haulage of sea shipments managed by me at Interfreight included complete plant and machineries import for sugar and dairy industries, telecom equipments, heavy power transformers, a complete thermal power plant, water pipes, drilling rigs, HR & CR bulk steel shipments, Agro chemicals & Agro commodities, cement, paper, machinery, industrial raw materials, etc. Annual cargo volumes handled by me at Interfreight was in excess of 10,000 TEUs and bulk cargo of 250,000 tonnes.

 Handled inbound logistics, warehousing and distribution for Amway, Unilever, 3M,

Epson, MICO ,SKF etc The company operated state of the art distribution centres with temperature controlled warehouse, dock levellers, hi-tech material handling & multi layer racks, a robust fleet for transport & distribution, with WMS and ERP.

 Held responsibility for FTL and LTL sales in the region.

 Took care of fleet planning, uplift of cargoes from ports and factories and transport to depots & warehouses across India.

 Handled P& L responsibility and achieved targeted revenue and profits.

 Successfully sold and acquired the Epson , Parry and Arrow Electronics 3 PL

Distribution projects in India. I set up its warehouse and provided freight, customs clearance, transport and inventory management for the client.

Aug 2000 to Jan 2002: Regional Manager- Fritz Freight (UPS Supply Chain), Bangalore, India

 Managed freight and logistics services for global companies including export documentation, imports clearance, arranging chartering of carriers, designing and managing logistics and transport solutions for clients.

 Managed project cargo for a complete power plant which was imported through Fritz for installation at Vijaynagar Steel Plant in Karnataka, India.

 Sold and managed international freight forwarding and logistics services for global companies such as GAP, Wal-Mart, Pier 1, J.C. Penny, Lexmark, Seagate, Haworth,

Tata BP, etc.

 Handled apparel exports and fashion logistics for GAP Inc and Wal-Mart. This involved pickup of shipments from clients’ vendors in India as per purchase orders, fulfilling inspections and export formalities and shipping them to destinations such that the cargo arrives at overseas distribution centres exactly as per schedule.

 Retained service levels in the region for all logistics and customer service functions as per established SOPs through efficient management of personnel and process , delivered budgeted profits and managed operations as per KPI benchmarks.

Jan 1997 to July 2000: Branch Manager- AFL Logistics Ltd, Kolkata and Chennai, India.

 Successfully led the branch team and managed the Transport and SCM services in

Eastern & Southern India.

 Managed Transport and logistics services for Hew let Packard, IBM, Ingram Micro,

NCR, HCL, Godrej and Boyce, Carrier and TVS Electronics in Eastern and Southern

India.

 Auto Industry transport projects managed by me included HYUNDAI –Spare parts dist ribution and Vendor managed inventory ; plus Inbound Logistics for FIAT UNO’s production line involving collection and movement from its vendors.

 Managed the whole gamut of transport, logistics and SCM as an integrated logistics service provider. The FMCG and other distribution goods in India were brought from its origin factory or discharge port into AFL warehouse acting as the central warehouse for these products. Each SKU would feature on AFL ‘s inventory package and would be stored in AFL warehouses country wide and its transport to the branches or distributors as Stock Transfer or Sale respectively would be carried out by AFL in its own trucks in a time bound manner, with every record of the stock and it’s move featured on the AFL tracking system
