Physics 1100 Exam I June 11, 2010 Name: ____________________________________ Instructions: Write your name in the appropriate place. You may lose points if you do not. Show your work answers without supporting work may not get full credit, and partial credit will only be given for work done towards an answer, not for simply copying formulas from the formula sheet. Put a box around all of your answers, and make sure your answers have appropriate units. If you can’t algebraically solve the equations you get from applying the physics, put a box around them, and clearly outline in words the rest of your solution. Although neatness doesn’t count in and of itself, the neater your solution is, the more likely you are to get it correct, and it will be easier for me to find partial credit in the event that you do not get the correct answer. Appeals after the exam for increases in partial credit such as “I wrote it up (or down or whatever) here”, without it being absolutely clear to me that what you wrote refers to the part of the problem in question, will not be considered. Please be sure that any written explanations are very clear, and don’t be afraid to use them to back up your solutions. Any “special case” equations that you use that were not on the typed formula sheet that I gave to you before the exam must be justified on your paper. You can do scrap work on the scrap paper provided, but please be sure that the solution on your test page is complete; use the back of the page if necessary. I will not accept any scrap paper at the end of the exam. You have (almost) two hours for this exam. Don’t Panic. Good luck! 1 (20 points): 2 (20 points): This Exam: 3 (20 points): 4 (20 points):
