Appointment of New Chair and Vice Chair for the CVC LCP: Chair: Paul Hemmings, Deputy Headteacher, The Costello School; Vice Chair: Tracey McCarley, Headteacher, Old Basing Infant School. CVC LCP Action Plan 2012-13 – at the CVC LCP meeting held on 16th October it was agreed to prioritise the following projects: NEETS – Empower NEETS to pursue career or continued training: Partnership working with Military Preparation Training & College (MPTC) aimed at disaffected young people aged 14-16 year. Teenage Pregnancy – BVS, in partnership with School Health Team and Secondary Schools, to run ‘Girl Talk’ / ‘Boy Talk’ sessions targeted at Year 9 students. Project - young people being admitted to A&E under the influence of alcohol Young People Attendance & Engagement –Agree common structure across the partnership and target low attendance; Establish participation group of young people to gain their views and suggestions on the needs of young people Parental Attendance/Engagement - Raising targeted parents’ aspirations and qualifications and Behaviour Management - Parents/Carers with children age 0-5 years. Other Information Hitting the Cold Spots – Hampshire County Council has requested that a reminder is sent to everyone. The project provides support to vulnerable individuals and young families in Hampshire to help them to keep warm and healthy during the winter months. The service is free and available to most people over the age of 18 who either privately rent or own their own home. Most people will get help – either financial or practical. Earlier this year Kala the Arts secured funding for their Heritage of Odissi Dance in Hampshire project; Parampara (meaning traditions). 1 As part of Parampara and the Anvil Arts partnership, the Kala the Arts is developing new relationships with schools, college and community groups. They would be delighted to speak to the cluster schools about this and to follow this up with a practical session for teachers with no cost to any of the participants. After the session Kala the Arts will be offering a free DVD film of Parampara with booklet which includes history of dance, culture, origins and how to teach South Asian dance in schools. Grant £450 cash; £50 Kellogg’s vouchers. No restrictions on how money is spent – food, equipment, games, materials and staff time. Priority will go to children in greatest need i.e. area designated as having special economic/social status; high percentage on free school meals. Free training and grants to START UP a Breakfast Club – ContinYou and Kellogg’s have been working together in partnership for over twelve years and are proud to be able to offer this fantastic opportunity – FREE training for school staff/parents/group leaders wishing to set up a NEW breakfast club in a school or other community setting. The training workshop will equip staff with what they need to start up and run a successful breakfast club. Following the training leaders will be able to apply for a Best Start Breakfast Club grant of £650 to get their breakfast club up and running. Training Opportunities ‘Working with Parents and Families’ – Parent and Family Support in Children’s Services will be running a five day, multi-agency training which aims to equip parenting practitioners with the essential knowledge and skills to work in partnership with parents and families effectively, to support and empower parents to achieve positive outcomes for their children. The course is for any practitioner whose work with parents and families constitutes a substantial/total part of their role who does not hold a minimum level 3 qualification. The course is scheduled to take place between 9/11/12 and 6/12/12 (days of the week vary) in Winchester from 9.30-4.30 pm. Delegates must attend all five days. Hampshire Voluntary Sector Training – if you work within Hampshire you may be eligible to access training provided by Youth Club Hampshire & Isle of Wight (YCHIOW) on behalf of Hampshire County Council and the Hampshire Children & Young People’s Alliance. Courses cover a range of subjects and most are free to the voluntary sector. Sessions are delivered by YCHIOW. Support for Young People Training for 16-25 year old unemployed young people - Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service will be delivering two 12-week full-time Prince’s Trust programmes in the Basingstoke area for 16-25 year old unemployed young people. This is a once in a life opportunity to plan for the future, CV writing, gain new skills and qualifications.
