STUDENT PROMPT:
Today you will research the topic of school uniforms. You will gather information
by reading an article and viewing a video clip in order to develop an opinion on
school uniforms. Should students wear school uniforms?
Read the article, “School Uniforms: Awesome-or Awful?” and view
the video clip, Battle of the Bags. Write a letter to your principal
stating your opinion about school uniforms. In your letter state
your opinion and provide strong reasons that are supported with
evidence from both sources.
You may use a blank sheet of paper to organize your thoughts using a Thinking
Map or graphic organizer.
After writing, remember to proofread and edit your responses. Your letter will be
scored for comprehension, written expression, and language conventions.
