Syllabus - Apparel & Textile Production II – Fall 2015 Mrs. Susan Bauer Course Description: Course includes a focus on textile design, textile science, product construction, global manufacturing and the apparel/textile market while building on content learned in A&TPI. Units: - Understand engineering, technical design and textile science in the apparel and textile industry. - Understand construction in the apparel and textile industry. - Understand the apparel and textile market. - Understand the global market. Required Class Supplies: ● Notebook, paper and pencil every day. ● Sewing kit – shears, pins, seam ripper, needles, seam gauge ● White cotton t-shirt for tie dying. ● Patterns, fabrics and supplies for projects as needed throughout semester. Classroom Expectations: ● Treat others, objects (desks, books, equipment) and yourself with respect. ● Always try your best with a positive attitude. ● Be prepared to participate in class discussion or activity. ● Adhere to all rules in the LNHS handbook. ● No electronic devices. MacBooks will be store unless we are utilizing them in class. ● Keep the classroom clean. Set up and put away lab equipment as needed. Grades and Weights: 90 - 100 - A Tests 35% 80 - 89 Projects/Portfolio 20% -B 70 - 79 - C Homework/classwork 20% 60 - 69 - D Quizzes 25% Total 100 Absences: Students are responsible for the material that you have missed in class. You are encouraged to form a partnership with someone in this class to get missing notes or email me for the information. You will have 2 days for every unexcused absence to make up the work you missed. If work is not made up in that time, you will receive a zero for all missing work. Time owed must be made up with LNHS’s Recovery Time program. Responsibilities: Students should be prepared for and participate in classroom activities in a safe and responsible manner. Students should take an active role in their education by being in class and striving to succeed. Students are expected to meet deadlines and make up any missing work. Make-up or retake tests: I am available during Smart Lunch (Monday A and Thursday B) for making up or retaking quizzes and tests.
