Submitted: 03/25/09 To: Dr. Art Fricke From: Ahmed Ponce, Rebekah Lloyd, Mandy Sigman, Danica Schlegel ( English 2311-006) Due Date: 03/25/09 Subject: Proposal Report Outline and Project Plan Memo, Working Title: Lubbock Car Bureau: An idea to implement a recycling program. Summary- The Problem: Our group will deal with the lack of recycling at car dealerships in Lubbock. There is a lot of wastefulness at each dealership. As a result thousands of dollars are wasted every year. Summary – Audience: The audience that our group is appealing to is the Lubbock Car Bureau. We are writing to Pandora Dog, Director of the Lubbock Car Bureau. We will appeal to the bureau in three ways: Many of the automobile dealerships in Lubbock do not realize how much each dealership wastes in paper and plastic. 1. Focusing on low cost and minimal effort 2. Describing the ecological benefits of recycling 3. Relating the business incentives of recycling Summary – The Report Goal: describing the idea of recycling: We intend to show Pandora Dog how much they could be saving by recycling all of the paper, and plastic bottles that are thrown away each day. Considering that the dealerships are open six days a week a lot of utilities are used such as electricity, internet, and water. With that in mind every salesman is still required to sell cars whether they are sending correspondence letters, making phone calls, or emails. The dealerships’ main interest is selling cars, which leaves them with a large carbon footprint already. Recycling all paper and plastics will reduce this, and help the environment as well. Procedures: Our group will create a new Twitter blog to share documents. Each individual will work on one section of the proposal. Each person can post their sections on Twitter, and receive input from the other group members. This will ensure any simple grammar mistakes are found. It also ensures a place where we can find all parts of the proposal. Communication: The group will communicate in three-ways. First, we will take advantage of in-class work time. Because we all come to class regularly, we can bounce ideas off each other and you. Second, we will make a new Twitter blog page to communicate ideas and share templates. This will help us all review each other’s documents and offer positive feedback. Last, we will have several group meetings throughout the deadline of the proposal. We will work an hour after each Wednesday class. Our proposal is very clear, focused, and precise. We would like feedback on three things: Is our timeline correct according to your criteria? Is the proposal written to the correct audience? If not, what do you recommend changing the proposal or audience to, so it is less work for us? Is the outline laid out correctly for our proposal?
